In the experiences that I have been blessed with thus far, I have discovered and realized my calling for life…education. Through my school journey, I have learned many things about myself and what I believe in regards to the field of education. I think that there are several purposes of teaching, such as taking the knowledge once learned and sharing it with others in order for them to apply it to daily life, impacting and influencing children’s lives, forming appropriate and supportive friendships with students, parents, and colleagues; fulfilling the passion to educate others, the desire to work with children and young individuals, and the desire to serve; learning from those one mentors, and continually developing in one’s profession. The most obvious and important function of instructing is to teach the younger population significant material in order for them to apply their acquired knowledge, survive day to day in the real world, find the right path for them in their lives, and create a well-rounded individual.
In addition, I trust that establishing an environment that is full of structure, love, care, support, trust, honesty, comfort, safety, happiness, success, challenges, and fun initially will supply the most beneficial learning atmosphere for any child, regardless of his/her abilities. Moreover, I stress the importance of learning about each of the students, their needs, their desires, and their interests in order to provide a stable environment for them to succeed individually and see themselves as achievers and not failures, even when mistakes are made. Furthermore, I think that it is essential for me to have an open mind regarding the diverse situations that the children may be involved in or surrounded by at school, at home, or wherever else. Therefore, I strive for the students to feel ease and trust in talking and confiding in me to assist them in any problems that they may be enduring.
The most meaningful and central aspect of teaching that I am concerned with is that each of the children who walk into my classroom realize that I, as a teacher, learner, and friend, care about each of them as individual persons, students, learners, teachers, and friends. My passion for teaching is exceptionally strong and if there are not smiles on the faces of my children, learning is not occurring in a challenging and fun manner, the students lack a place of belonging, the structure lacks management, and both the children and I are not learning together, then I am not fulfilling my goals nor my zeal.
