Reading Curriculum Used in the Classroom:
In the classroom we use two different Reading curriculums:
-Language for Learning - This program is taught in small group instruction. It teaches the students to respond to directions to do various actions when given a ready cue; identify their name; trace or write their name; identify their gender, teacher, and school; match and identify pictures; and complete worksheets.
-PCI - This curriculum is taught in small group instruction. It is a sight word based program. It teaches the students a word a week. Different activities are done with that word in order to provide plenty of practice. Worksheets will come home throughout the week once completed in class to be done as extra practice at home! At the end of every 5 lessons, a book is read that consists of the previous 5 words taught. The book will be sent home for you and your child to read together!
